A Legacy of Industrial Evolution

With an ideal location in Southwestern Pennsylvania, Beaver County is in the heart of the industrial heartland.  For more than two centuries, industrialists and entrepreneurs have set up shop here, attracted by a location with river, rail and overland transportation access and a skilled, reliable workforce.

Today, Beaver County remains at the forefront of a growing regional economy.  An emerging energy sector focused on abundant Marcellus gas field resources, has positioned the County for the opportunities of tomorrow. Shell Chemical Appalachia, LLC, recently selected Beaver County as the site of a new, multi-billion-dollar petrochemicals complex.

Shell’s facility will process low-cost ethane from Marcellus-shale gas to produce up to 1.6-million tons of polyethylene per year.
